Classroom Expectations

As a class, we discussed the expectations we have of one another. This is what we decided was important to us:

Students’ expectations of each other:

  • Treat others how you want to be treated
  • Respect each others’ things and the classes’ things
  • Focus and cooperate
  • Respect each other, the teacher, and yourself
  • Don’t laugh at each other when we make mistakes

Teacher’s expectations of the students:

  • Try your best every day
  • Don’t say “I can’t”
  • When you don’t understand, ask
  • Keep trying until you succeed
  • Don’t be afraid of making mistakes, it’s a great way to learn!
  • Work silently during independent work
  • Work quietly during group work
  • Don’t talk while a teacher or student is talking to the class
  • Ask before leaving the room
  • Be great role models for behavior and attitude in the school
  • Use kind words including “please” and “thank you”
  • Show respect
  • Be prepared
  • Follow all procedures
  • Do your very best to be a good friend, student, classmate and person

Students’ expectations of their teacher:

  • Support the students
  • When students don’t understand, help them
  • Prepare the class as much as possible for high school
  • Encourage students to do things they think they can’t do
  • Give students challenges
  • Be fair
