A Class Full of Artists

The class recently completed beautiful realistic pictures using a gridwork and pencil crayons.

What an impressive bunch of up-and-coming artists!

Congratulations to Our Destination Imagination Teams!

Last Saturday two teams from Div. 13 competed with other Maple Grove students and teams from around Metro Vancouver at a Regional Destination Imagination Tournament. We had a long and fun day watching and performing team challenges, and participating in instant challenges.

Both the Dimension Twisters (Akshay, Vivian, Armaan, Alaia) and Think, Build, Imagine (Emma, Elaine, Henry, Dana, James) did a fantastic job.

Think Build Imagine won 2nd place in their category. And showed exceptionally good teamwork during the instant challenge.

Congratulations!

A big thank you goes out to the Team Managers, Sonja and Michael Everson, and Christian Cotichini, for their huge support and great time investment in our teams. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Presentation Praise

Once again Division 13 has delivered some engaging and thought provoking Great Works project presentations.

We learned all sorts of things from how to bake bread to how to not step on your flamenco skirt while dancing.

I’m impressed by the class’s ability to keenly listen and ask relevant and insightful questions.

Below are pictures of a few of the projects:

Ben taught us about the original Macintosh Computer. Now all the students know what a floppy disk is.

Great Works Projects

I am greatly looking forward to watching the Great Works Project presentations tomorrow. I’m sure students are putting the final touches on their visuals and practicing their oral presentations.

Because we are participating in the Heritage Fair this term, we will be omitting one of the Great Works projects. Students will do a 3rd and 4th, but not a 5th. It is each student’s choice which of the three remaining project plans they want to complete, and which one they will not.

Future due dates are:

Tuesday April 28th

Monday June 8th
